Are you studying target to native or native to target? I don’t recommend the latter. Mostly it’s an issue with medical or science cards. Language cards are really simple, just a word to another word, so I don’t think you should run into many problems. You want to increase the number of steps and possibly reset the ease in your cards. Basically Anki has determined your cards are more difficult then they actually and shows you them too often. You kind of have to understand how the Anki algorithm works to really understand it through.
